The Timing of Your CBD Dose is Everything

So, you’ve heard all the wonderful things CBD can do. Your friends swear by it, your partner’s a fan, and your pet’s love it. In other words, it has your attention. You’re ready to give it a try, or maybe you already use CBD but want to maximize its benefits.

To do that, timing is key. Yep, there’s an ideal time to supplement with CBD. And taking different amounts at different times of the day could be helpful too.

Let’s go ahead and take you through a typical day of dosing with your favorite CBD products.

CBD Refresher

To remind you, cannabidiol or CBD for short is a naturally occurring compound in cannabis plants. For this article, when we say CBD, we’re referring to the kind found in industrial hemp. Hemp-derived CBD products are legal in the U.S. and they’re the type of products we sell.

Given the recent federal legalization (in 2018), there’s more and more research taking place on cannabidiol. Scientists are curious about how it works in the body and what its potential therapeutic effects are. We can’t speak a lot about the benefits because the FDA monitors any health claims.

Your best bet is to browse the scientific journals on CBD, so you can see what the research reveals and what we’ve already experienced for ourselves.

Early morning: start your day on a positive note

If you love having a cup of coffee or tea to start your day, adding CBD oil to it can further enhance your morning ritual. According to Jim Kwik, a highly-esteemed brain coach, “if you can win your morning, you can win your day.”

What better way to “win your morning” than to have a powerful botanical tincture. If you prefer to drink your coffee and tea without the flavor of hemp, take 10 to 30mg of full-spectrum CBD oil under your tongue beforehand. Then enjoy sipping on your hot beverage.

Mid-day: give yourself a boost

Feeling a little sluggish in the late afternoon? This is common for so many of us. And a lot of the need for an energy boost has to do with our adrenal glands. They’re responsible for producing many hormones like cortisol (the stress hormone), aldosterone, and adrenaline (fight or flight hormone).

If our adrenal glands are stressed out, they’ll require more energy to work. This is why we often reach for another cup of coffee or a sweet in the mid-afternoon to boost our energy levels.

Rather than creating a caffeine dependence, you can instead grab your jar of CBD gummies and eat one of two of them. You can still enjoy the taste of something sweet, but reap the perks of CBD going to work in your body. More specifically, you’ll be enhancing the function of your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) and your brain health

Physical exercise: ease painful muscles

After a long swim, strenuous, yet rewarding hike, or intense session at the gym, your body needs to recover. This is where CBD pain cream comes to your rescue. Wherever you feel tight or sore, rub some of the cream on that area of your body.

If the formula of the CBD topical includes more than cannabidiol, like arnica or menthol, you’ll only need a little bit at a time. Take a ‘dime to nickel-sized’ amount and rub it in well. Spend 15 to 30 seconds working it into your skin.

In addition to this, you can take some supplements to speed up your post-workout recovery time.

Bedtime: time for a little nightcap

The traditional meaning of nightcap refers to an alcoholic beverage. Rather than having a drink to wind down from your day, why not take some CBD oil instead? You might wake up feeling better and more refreshed if you do.

This is a good time to increase your normal dose a bit if you feel comfortable doing so. Since you’ll be falling asleep soon, the extra amount of CBD won’t be ‘felt’ as much compared to being awake. As your body adjusts to cannabidiol, like some other supplements, it helps to increase the dose until finding that “sweet spot”.

When you find the sweet spot, you get way more benefits and feel better because of it.

No matter how or when you take your hemp-based CBD products, as long as you’re feeling better, that’s the most important thing.
